The Story behind the Queenie Chair: Most of Free People's fixtures come from a haveli in Ramgarh that is known to be the place in India to take old household items and furniture to sell. This particular chair comes from the house of a maharaja. It was imported back in the 1800's from France when the maharajas were backed by the British government and had the ability to collect very high taxes and thus become quite wealthy. When the British left, the maharaja's lost their power and as a result, their palaces and everything in them fell into disrepair. Somehow, this chair made its way to Ramgarh where it was found among other forgotten treasures. Free People now reproduces it and it is a main piece that really embodies the feeling of Free People.
