so many ways to help out at CHOICE! From researching HIV/AIDS issues to
handing out literature on the street, CHOICE offers a range of opportunities
for volunteers to become involved. Even if you only have a few hours to
spare or are only interested in helping out during special events, we

Internship
Opportunities
At CHOICE,
you will find variety of opportunities to help you sharpen existing talents
while you learn new skills. To meet the needs of both the student and
CHOICE, internships can be individually designed. To find out more about

Fundraising
and Development Intern
This internship
will provide an opportunity to gain hands on experience in non-profit
grant writing, fundraising, and development. The selected intern will
have the opportunity to read, craft, and participate in the grant
writing process and interact on a daily basis with our professional
development staff. The intern will cultivate donor research skills
and gain a keen understanding of the fundraising process. This is
an excellent opportunity for the selected intern to build relationships
within the women's social service network and the fundraising community

Community
Education Intern
Responsibilities
- Complete required
training in comprehensive sexuality education curriculum.
- Facilitate education
and training workshops in middle schools, high schools, and community-based
organizations on topics including Intimacy, HIV and STI Prevention,
Birth Control, Teen Pregnancy, Self-Esteem, Sexual Assault, and Communication
Skills.
- Participate in
street outreach and health fairs.
- Work with CHOICE
staff to research, write and design publications on reproductive/sexual
health.
- Gather information
on community organizations, schools, churches, universities, and social
service agencies.
- Assist with occasional
mailings and material distribution.
- Perform other
administrative duties as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of college
Junior status.
- Interest in and
commitment to reproductive/sexual health, reproductive rights and/or
HIV/AIDS.
- Experience working
with children and teens, especially in urban areas.
- Excellent communication
skills, ability to get along with people from diverse backgrounds,
and maturity.
- Good organizational
skills and ability to manage a variety of tasks.
- Proficiency in
MS Word, Excel, Publisher, and in the use of the Internet for research
purposes.
This internship
requires a PA Child Abuse Clearance and Criminal Background Check.
Hours: minimum
10 hours per week.
Hotline
Intern
Responsibilities
Research:
- Research and
collect information on various current reproductive and sexual health,
HIV/AIDS, and maternal/child health issues.
- Create information
reference sheets for staff detailing current issues.
- Present information
at monthly Hotline meetings.
Quality Assurance:
- Participate in
placing test calls to reproductive health providers.
- Provide written
documentation of calls.
- Participate in
updating provider profiles in the information and referral system
used on the Hotline.
Qualifications
- Minimum of college
Junior status.
- Excellent verbal
and written skills.
- Proficiency in
the use if the Internet for research purposes as well as PC word processing
skills.
- Excellent organizational
skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Interest in and
commitment to reproductive health, reproductive rights, HIV/AIDS service
provision, and maternal/child health.
Hours: minimum
7 hours per week.
Teen
Community Education Intern
(for students age 15 to 19)
Qualifications
- Interest in and
commitment to reproductive/sexual health, reproductive rights and/or
HIV/AIDS.
- Clear and loud
speaking voice, friendly nature, ability to assume leadership role
among peer group, ability to get along with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Able to convey
information in a non-judgmental, non-biased manner.
- Responsible,
mature, demonstrates respect for peers and adults.
- Willing to adhere
to work schedules and responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Complete required
training in comprehensive sexuality education curriculum.
- Travel with CHOICE
staff to schools and community centers to present workshops for teens
on sexual health issues such as Intimacy, HIV and STI Prevention,
Birth Control, Teen Pregnancy, Self-Esteem, Sexual Assault, and Communication
Skills.
- Accompany CHOICE
staff to street outreach and health fairs.
- Prepare materials
for health fairs, outreach, presentations and conferences; confirm
Peer Education Bookings; and perform other administrative duties.
- Work with CHOICE
staff to research, write and design publications on reproductive/sexual
health for teens.
- Gather information
on community organizations, schools, churches, universities, and social
service agencies.
- Assist with occasional
mailings and material distribution.
Teen Interns will
be trained to perform the above job requirements. CHOICE is searching
for candidates with high potential to be trained successfully.
